A look at the GM Canada site shows either auto or manual as a choice with the 2.4 l motor.

The gasoline cost savings with the smaller motor would be in the order of 10% after giving consideration to the difference in fuel economy and difference in cost of the two grades of fuel.

The excess power of the 2.4 motor is rarely, if ever, used. Almost all of our driving takes place way down the power curve.

Not here

The US website shows as soon as you get the 2.4 engine you get the auto tranny too.

Thanks Tore
Hilly here, outskirts of the Appliacian Mt's. The 5 speed handles it nicely.

Not fair! you get a far more à la carte approach to options there, we can't get half of these without resorting to a package of some sort. Sport suspension option on an LT?

I believe the spec has changed for '09 to where a 2.4 can only be had with an automatic trans. So glad then that I ordered my '08 2.4 5 speed when I did.

Maybe it's a regional variation, I know I couldn't build one on the Chevrolet website in early MY08 when I was looking for one in NY, and a search for the '07 equivalent in inventory found only 1 within 100 miles. In any case, whenever the change was, you still can't get it as an '09. I'm happy with my 2.2, 35mpg door to door between Buffalo and Rockford (~700 miles)loaded to the roof 5 times so far. The trip with the 2 bikes on the rack wasn't so good at around 32mpg.
