2006 HHR - Replaced liftgate switch & still not working

I have a 2006 HHR and about 5 years ago the liftgate switch went bad, I ordered one on Ebay, and that was the end of the problem. About 6 months ago it did the same thing and I ordered a switch. This time the new switch did nothing - i hook it up and nothing. I read some things about fuses and relays but they all appear to be fine. I think I read your not supposed to have anything in one spot in the fuse box (#11 as I recall a fuse or a relay or something) but I have done zero jerking around in the fuse box and the thing has worked for the last five years.

The thing has been parked for about two months but, as I recall, I heard a very faint clicking (just a couple of times) when I hooked up the new switch. But it wasn't enough to unlock the thing and that only happened a couple of times.

In other words, I know there is nothing in the fuse box that hasn't been there for years. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Fuses and relays 'APPEAR' to be fine. How's that?

Well, I just pulled out fuses and none were burnt/broken. I am a nitwit with this kind of thing. Maybe a relay is bad or something.

Try switching similar relays with relay #18 in the under hood fuse box .

Also with a 7 mm socket tighten the four bolts in the fuse box , real tight!

Those four bolts ^^^^^

I'm an idiot. I replaced the soft touch pad "thing" first, then I spent 32 bucks on the latch mechanism.....then I finally replaced the relay (when nothing had yet worked) and it was the relay - and I had spent 30 bucks on a 2006 fuse box about a month ago and had one sitting in the garage the entire time......DOH.

Some shops get paid for that kind of bungling. You got it for free. Call it a win.
