2007 HHR Turbo

I am not very computer savy so maybe someone out there can add a hyperlink. Seems as if Chevy is working on a higher horsepower version. Do an internet search of the following: jalopnik gm product testing party.

Here's what I found:

Our new buddy Ryan happened by a GM soirée in the Rocky Mountains, at which the company’s new, turbocharged Ecotec direct-injection mill was the most honored of guests. Luckily, he brought along his digicam

I’ve seen a few mildly disguised Solstice GXPs over the last couple of days near Keystone Mountain in Colorado. Then yesterday, I ran into a whole slew of gm test vehicles in a hotel parking lot in Dillon, CO. There happened to be a mechanic working on one of the Solstices at the time, so I asked him a few questions. It sounded like it was actually a Bosch testing program for cold weather/high altitude performance of the direct injection ecotec turbo. Apparently they’re already making 280bhp and shooting for 300bhp for next year. And GM is planning to stick the mill in a bunch of different performance models: They had two undisguised Cobalt SSs with the same motor, and an HHR as well.

In the same lot there were five fully disguised cars under covers. I couldn’t tell in the slightest what they are.

Funny, we were just talking about how much the HHR needed a shot of adrenaline. All bodes well.

They're gonna be able to get 300 HP out of the ecotec??? Doesn't that seem like quite a lot? They are going to have to do more than just turbo the engine cause thats almost double the HP....

Its a direct injectionsetup with a turbo, do a search for the new motor.

Chevy is already getting 1000hp out of the ecotec using factory performance parts. Of course that engine will require a full bottom-end beef up with new crank and forged pistons, but a 1000hp eco is probably not most people's "daily driver."

I'm sure the design team can come up with a 280-300hp turbo version that would be a reliable daily driver engine. And a turbo version is appropriate since the PT has had this option for quite a while.
