What it means is the 1-2 shift solenoid valve is not functioning. That means no second or third gear.
Did anything happen just before this popped up?
You might get luck and a fluid change will fix it. Causes are Dirty fluid, plugged up valve, clogged up fluid circuits.

Causes for this P0752 transmission code may include: Insufficient fluid level Dirty or contaminated fluid Dirty or clogged transmission filter Defective transmission valve body Restricted hydraulic passages Transmission has internal failure Faulty shift solenoid Corroded or damaged connector Faulty or damaged wiring.
Common repairs are Changing the fluid and filter Repair or replace a faulty shift solenoid Repair or replace defective transmission valve body Repair or replace defective transmission Transmission flush to clean passages Cleaning corrosion from connectors Repairing or replacing wiring

Look under your HHR, are the axle output shaft seals leaking, resulting in low fluid levels?
I’m thinking it’s time to drain and refill the transmission fluid and change the filter.
This might resolve your issue as you indicated that clearing the code gets the transmission to shift normally.
You might need to replace the shift solenoids

This will have to go to a runoff. We will need to look at the logs to determine who will receive the coveted 'Best advice' award.

What's wrong with a second opinion? Even health insurance companies will pay for that, and here it FREE!
