2008 HHR - bit of gas fume

My wife and I was given a 2008 HHR by her father. It had a engine check light and when I check for code, I replaced both the intake and exhaust camshaft position actuator solenoid valve. I also did the tune up by replacing oil, spark plugs, and all the filters etc. The check light went away.

I am detecting a hint of gas fume when walking in front of the hood after I park the car. I am not sure where it coming from and in my past experience that a hint of gas fume normally mean the gas regulator is leaking but most all newer models car normally have it in fuel pump which is sitting inside the gas tank. If the HHR regulator is in the gas tank then what could be causing me to smell the hint of gas fume after parking HHR in front of the radiator area? I tried to find a leak but I don't see any wet spot anywhere.

I welcome on any advise what to look into or how to find where the smell is coming from.

Thank you

Check all of the metal fuel lines for a "damp" spot anywhere they are on the car.

The fuel and vapor lines run under the car, that is where they usually rust out; if it is the vapor line there would be no dripping.

What were the code numbers? Is it hard starting; like not on the first turn? What engine?

X2 on checking the fuel and vapor lines... Before it becomes a problem.

Problem, as in... a fire.

Welcome to the site, Fumes up front? Check the fuel line pressure at the fuel rail, and look for fuel around the injectors

Because it was remote possibility; didn't want to waste my letters. And suspecting a one timer.
