2010 Chevy HHR Stereo or Speakers issues

I have a 2010 Chevy Hhr 2.4Lt. My front door and rear door speakers goes in and out occasionally but my tweeter speakers stay on, also my radio auxiliary port is very loose (you can wiggle it). Does the auxiliary port makes my speakers go in and out? What is going on with my issues and what can I do to fix it?

My bet is the speakers are bad, the aux port might be shorting on the inside. You can get a new face plate or a junkyard one. Not an entire head unit.

Agree, speakers go bad from moisture intrusion

MyfirstHHR 05-17-2018 01:39 PM

So I should replace the speakers and everything will be fine? I was wondering if I had to buy a brand new stereo (after market) and speakers,

I'm not there, so no guaranty. You can put a whole new system in, if you want to.

Do you have the Pioneer Premium system?

MyfirstHHR 05-17-2018 01:47 PM

No, Everything is all original parts.

The Pioneer system was an option from the factory, it has a sub-woofer and amp. That's what I meant.

MyfirstHHR 05-17-2018 04:34 PM

Oh well yes, I’m going to order a new set of speakers

If your HHR is a 2LT model then you have the Pioneer Premium System.
It was also optional in the 1LT

Since you say you have the 2.4L engine .. that comes standard in the 2LT so your HHR might be a 2LT.

If it is just bad door speakers that should not matter if you use stock speakers.

Your speakers are bad. Mine was doing the same thing on my 2008 with original radio and I went to the local auto audio shop one month ago and they said as long as the tweeters were playing the radio was good. He said in 2005 Chevy started using speakers that the glue was bad and after awhile quit holding. I thought speakers would work or not work but he said because of this glue issue they would sometimes make contact and work. They replaced all four door speakers with upgraded speakers and I now have great sound again.

thanks donbrew
found a lot of good info like egg shape hole that needs adapters and more

6 3/4 inch speakers.

Broken items that need replacing do not work at all. sounds like loose wiring somewhere.

Oldblue 10-29-2021 04:47 PM

Sounds like that’s a possibility, however door speakers are susceptible to water damage and are known to short out internally in the speakers usually corrosion in the magnet. So no loose wires just rusty speakers

Do you have a subwoofer in the cargo bay?

Oldblue 10-29-2021 07:13 PM

I do in my 2011 2LT, yes
