3000 mile oil check: no movement :~)
4000 miles on the clock, making it 3000 miles since I changed the oil (did a change @ 1000). Oil looks to be in the same place on the dipstick. Doesn't seem to have consumed a drop. I love this engine
Mobil Clean 5000 5W30 is what I put in @ 1000 miles. The color looked good as well, still translucent on the stick... nice golden color somewhere between new cooking oil and maple syrup in tint. I'm going to run it at least another 1000, maybe 2000. OLM is indicating 70% Not sure I completely trust the OLM's assessment of the situation  |
The instruction manual says it can go for over a year without requiring an oil change in optimal conditions. It also says that you should change it at least once a year though.

The OLM still said 16% left when I changed the oil last weekend. |
900 miles short of 10,000 miles on the oil here @16% and not a drop used. I'm using FS Penzoil Platium .

On my last OCI, I ran it 7800 miles on Castrol Syntec. Never used a drop of oil.

Hopefully it hasn't been tainted by temperature fluctuations over the last week. I'm curious to see how the Syntec did, even though I won't be running it again for quite some time. |
