3M Clear Paint Protectors
 

Aloha Everyone! Does anyone here have any experience with the clear paint protectors that 3M sells? Also are the Headlight protectors worth the effort to put them on?? Thanks! And I loves me HHR!!!!:D

Thanks for the welcome and help! I tried the search but kept getting a blank return on my searches. Must have been using the wrong search term(my bad!). Anyway, I got the headlight protectors but haven't had the time to put them on and i was wondering about how good the rest of the products worked and if they looked ok on the car.

Here is a copy from my earlier post.
When I ordered mine, I had them put on the 3M clear protection film over the entire front end (including lower bumpers and pads) It was spendy ($595 Cdn,), but like you I wanted the protection. It is also available to do the running boards, over the headlight covers and above the windshield. Inspector is black and it is a good color to do it to. Actually all darker colors work great. You can only see a FAINT line across the hood where the film ends. They caution however that white or light silver is not as good as it does darken those colors and is more noticeable, so it depends what color you have. If you are waxing the car, test an inconspicuous area first to make sure it does not affect the finish. I used 5Star on mine and it was fine. If you check out my pics linked to my sig. below, you will see the front end and in real life, it is just as invisible. I went this way 'cause I don't like the bra look (too heavy on the front end) and the washing hassle and potential scratching taking it on and off all the time as well. Hope this helps you out.

Oh well, here they are. Pics of the 3M stuff on our Buick. In the other post which I cannot find, another member or two spoke of another product which is potentially better as the 3M stuff fades to a dull yellow after a year outside.

It protects, but I'm not sure I'd do it again unless it was cheap. You knoww a place that really needs the invisible shield is the bottom wing of the rear doors. You know, the sandblast areas. Mine has the running boards and still has a couple hundred tiny chips on each door area :eek: Coating it with rubber is the only real hope!

I`ve used it on three vehicles with awesome reults! Protection at its best for the paint!!!! No more rock chips!!! I did the door edge on one Trailblazer we had with the 1/4 inch stuff, better than those dumb egde gaurds you can buy, and looks better too!! Let me know if you need tech assistance, Mr. Retro.

You did nothing wrong! Our search function doesn't like small words.:confused:

Won't look for terms like 3M or bra.:roll:
