3rd Brake Light

HELP ... Does anyone know how to make that 3rd Brake Light blink on & off when you depress the Brake Pedal ??? I have had 2 out of 3 SSR's that the 3rd Brake Light blinked on & off (installed by the previous owners) when depressing the Brake Pedal. I think that is really neat when applying the Brake Pedal. Thanks a 1,000,000 for y'all's help. 10 uh C cozydog. aka Bob Alexander "Z09" Crystal Red Metallic with Chrome Package.

Google

how to make third brake light blink

Whether it works without messing up anything, like cruise control, you won't know until you try. I cannot recall anyone here has ever tried. Let us know how it goes!

The high mount brake light never comes on when applying the brake? Is that your problem?

Some cars have the 3rd brake light blink before it stays on.
This is from the factory so I doubt if it's illegal.
That being said,
the blinking is progammed into the brake light system, and I'm not sure if the HHR BCM can be modified to perform this function.

Not illegal, it is a factory safety feature on some vehicles including motorcycles.... although I hate vehicles that have it, its 100% legal.

In VA it is illegal if it continues blinking, that is reserved for ambulances and fire trucks. Flashing 3 times then steady is OK. "Continuously flashing red lights" are NOT legal.
I did a quick GoOgle "blinking brakw lights" lots of links to led bulbs that do it. You would need to make sure they have internal resisters, if you want cruise control.

The CHMSL is on its own circuit so, an enterprising electronics genius would be able to do it in short order. There are probably over-priced modules out there. Here is one of many Universal third Brake light Stop Light Pulsing Strobe Flashing Module Controller | eBay
