Advice on selling

New here. I have my dads 07 hhr manual transmission. I don’t know much about it. I’m pretty sure he bought it brand new. Has 230k miles on it with a new transmission and engine. Can’t find the paper work to know what the mileage is. It seems to be running well. He smoked in it for years so interior is a little rough. I’m looking to try and sell it. He passed away in December and I’m ready to let go of it now. Just looking for any advice if it worth much and where would be the best place to list it. Any advice is appreciated

You'll net more money for it if you take it to the right professional detailer. Some of them are pretty good at dealing with smoked-in cars.

In my opinion, posting LOTS of pics with get you the most interest. Well-lit, in focus. Eight shots from 4 angles, high and low. Showing EACH wheel/tire. Interior front and rear seating, close up of drivers seat wear, cluster with car running showing all gages, lights, and odometer reading lit up, control panel, cargo area. At least one of the engine bay. At least a couple shots underneath; with the phone flash on; one reaching in from the front and one from the rear should give the buyer a clue as to the level of corrosion down there.

Make no attempt to conceal flaws, wear, and damage; on the contrary, include close-ups of the most significant ones. Include a shot of the silver RPO sticker inside the glove box, making sure every number is clearly readable.

Posting a youtube walkaround is a nice touch. Engine running, hold the phone near the open hood and the exhaust for the sound.

Readily reveal the VIN if requested. (But it's already on the pic of the RPO label you furnished, right?) Refusal is the mark of a scammer. (Or a paranoid seller, foreshadowing a difficult transaction.)

Negative comments don't work and label you as a crank, repelling legit buyers. Leave them out.
  • No lowballers!
  • Serious buyers only!
  • Don't waste my time!

Good luck!

Don't waste your money trying to rid it of the smoke smell. Nothing will do it. Just list it as being a smokers vehicle. Maybe a smoker will not care.

Smoke 'em if you got 'em. (But only an SS will really smoke the tires!?)
If new means "NEW" as in brand new not (used or re-manufactured) new to the vehicle that would make a difference if the condition and therefore sales price.
And a validation of the installed mileage then. Value equal to or exceeding the decrease form the smokers residue.

Rented a dog friendly hotel room on x-country trip in Feb. Instantly could tell it also was used for the smokers room option too.
