Annoying vent noise

There is a noise coming from the right side that only happens when I got the vents going, doesn't matter if its a/c or the heater. It really quiet and it just sounds like really quick clicks one next to another. Sounds almost like someone is reeling in a fishing pole nonstop when I drive. I paged my salesman and when I get more information I'll post it.

Sounds like you might have a leaf stuck in your vent fan!

...just a guess.

i looked thru the vent and didn't see anything. Is there anything I can easily check under the hood that would be connected to the vent.

The leaf would gain access in the underhood area. Also, I believe there is a cab filter you might be able to access under the dash - pull it out and inspect, you might find the problem there.

Hope it helps,

I checked it out real good and opened the glove box and pushed the tabs and really got up under there and i saw what im guessin is the ac unit, it said delphi on it(yea im a real car buff huh) and it sounds like the noise is comin from it more than the vents really.

Well I got my hhr all fixed up now. It was the blower fan. They replaced it and no she's quiet again. I'm just glad it was a simple problem.

I have seen that type of problem in several cars. The fan is press-fit onto the shaft of the fan motor. If the plastic fan is not within the right tolerances and the hole for the shaft is a little large, the fan will float down the shaft. Thus the fan then starts rubbing on the first thing it comes into contact with. Then WA-LA - you have an instant annoying sound!

I don't think something else would have caused it. It was probably just a defective part. The blower fan went on my Grand Am but the car was 7 years old at that point and not a new vehicle like yours. I'll be keeping an eye on it now that I know someone else has had a problem.
