Normal depreciation really

I ran an HHR through KBB, 1LT with running boards, ABS, and found the depreciation to be about 32% off the sticker price of a new 2007. I ran a w Grand Prix, with similar equipment to the 1LT, and found it's depreciation rate to be GREATER than that of an HHR. I ran an Impala through and found its depreciation rate to be between that of the GRand PRix and the HHR. The point? The first year depreciation is the greatest and it looks to me as the HHR is average. We have to remember it is a $19,000 car, not a $30,000 car and so when you take a 1/3 off the resulting number sounds so low in comparison..but the precentage is right. You also have to remember all the GM special pricing and rebates that took place on 06 cars which really made the purchase prices lower. Truely, compare it other cars, of any class (sub compact, mid size, etc.) and the depreciation rate is NOT out of line...you have to keep it 3 years or so, not trade it in one year! The other post hit it on the head anyway..it is AUCTION price that matter, not KBB, not NADA, etc...it is what the market is selling that car for..which unfortunately, in general is BELOW the KBB or NADA anyway. But for the price car it is, it is holding out fine.

Yeah..
the HHR, is a fun car, multi purpose type , which quite a few things can be done to it... Try if anything for selling to a private party... rather than the dealer.....

One other car of mine.... G35
holds it value relatively steady...
its a 2004 excellant condition its listing 28, 995//// paided 32500 out the door for it new...
But have added lots of mods.. to it.... $$$$$ so would have to try to recoupe it if I sold it... But ..... no way... selling this car......
it has speed , looks, agility, sounds, prestige.... bammmm

The thing about the HHR or any other domestic brand is that dealers are always going to have to dicker with the price more in order to be able to resell them. The SRV on the HHR may be $16k, but no one in their right mind would pay that much, more like $14k out the door. If the dealer paid $12k for the car at auction, after overhead they're not making a whole lot on the car.

Now, for the G35 and other imports, the dealer is going to pay more like $19k at auction and try to sell it for $21-22k. Even less markup because the car costs them more to begin with, but even an import car won't sell at the full retail which is only a couple thousand more than the wholesale. Car business is a tricky business. You don't see too many G35s in the rental fleets, either.

Personally, I think the HHR is going to be a six-year car because it still doesn't have the cachet that the PT had, plus it's quickly becoming a rental queen. From my experience, people like the cars, but not enough to justify purchasing one. When the next Delta redesign comes along, HHR will go away. After that, the values will be next to nothing--just in time for my hugger orange '10 Camaro 'vert.

Question

I've never bought a brand New car or truck, Always a 1 yr old..(better pricing)....
But was thinking the HHR Panel would be the first, however the more I research, just seems to have so many problems & etc...

Yes I've read many have had "0" problems, & that's great!
But can't ignore those that had, &/or are having serious issues with this car.

But that is with every car on the road. It just when you hear problems, you hear them.

I actually paid less for my new 06 than lots were selling used 06's.

So why are you even bothering to post? Do you want us to try to talk you into buying an HHR when all you're going to do is find every single problem every mentioned on the forums like 99% of the people who post about them? Seriously, go buy an f-ing Toyota if you really think they're built by Jesus Christ himself.

I came to do research till the Panels come out, not to be berated or lower myself to quibble with you..

I'm not making trouble, just studying...If you don't care for my post, please don't read it.

Class Act

God, the level of *****yness on these HHR forums has seriously hit a new low recently. Why can't people be cool like the ones on the Corvette forums? Why do we have to have all these trolls making crap up about cars they don't even own just to get attention? WHY?

Tell you what, SSguy. Go buy an HHR and then I'll listen to you ***** about it.
