Question Auto dimming rear view mirror

I have an 06 LT1 that has the standard rear view mirror. Is the LT2 rear view mirror (auto dimming w compass) interchangable and just a plug in replacement or is there more rewiring that needs to be done?

I like the auto dimming feature, but it is not listed as a separate option and car salesmen don't have a clue as to what is available.

You can buy the Gentex mirrors at various locations on the web. You can get them with compass, temperature, OnStar, map lights etc. I don't know about the wiring harness though. I know on my S10 they were different. I got a mirror with compass and temp, but the wiring that went to the original only supplied power for the map lights. I'm gonna bet that the HHR is the same way -- the harness will differ based on installed options.

No the plug is not the same. If you get one for a scraped HHR just get the plug and about 6" of the harness and you can make it work. I did it to my 06 LS

Save your money and time.Think about this-our cars have deep tint back glass. The auto dimming feature is useless because of it.My '08 2LT has that mirror and I've NEVER detected it doing any good. The deep tint glass cuts the glare enough by itself(and cuts too much light at certain times anyway-like night time).
