Auto windows

Has anyone or know anyone that has made both front windows or all four windows auto roll down?

I would be interested in any first-hand experiences on that subject also. There are numerous manufacturers of modules that allow auto roll up and/or auto roll down on up to four windows. I just don't know how well they work. There would have to be a good torque-sensing circuit to shut down the roll-up when the window is fully up without straining the motor and mechanism and causing an eventual failure.

Why don't the car manufacturers make all the windows auto down? Is it for child safety?

Actually its to keep distinction between model levels. Lower end cars only have a driver side that has auto down, if that. My Trailblazer does both front as auto down. My old Cadillac Catera had all 4 windows auto up & down, as do many luxury and sport sedans.

Anybody who has kids should not worry about this motor strain issue. The motors have a thermal reset circuit designed into them.

How the alarm roll-up -- roll-down modules are installed will depend upon the model year. My 2009 uses a new system from the ones with the switches on the console.

My girlfriends newer VW Golf (entry level premium compact) has auto up and down on all windows from the drivers seat. My HHR, which cost about $8,000 more, only has auto down for the drivers window. I've always disliked how GM implements this auto up/down for windows. I wish they would just put it on every vehicle.

I forget what car had it, but that roll all windows down with the remote would be pretty sweet as well.

I know with VW's (like my girlfriends Golf and my buddies Jetta) you can put the windows up or down with the key in the door lock outside the car. Not as function as remotely using a key fob but still somewhat useful.
