I need a backup camera suggestion. I live in a mountain area and it is really hard to tell who might be coming up or down a hill. I was thinking about mounting it on the license plate.

 

There seems to be many options for retrofitting a backup cam. The license plate frame mounting is a simple and unobtrusive solution.

I wouldn't try to replicate the factory backup cam arrangement. I own an HHR with this. The display in the rear view mirror is not very good. It's tiny, dim, and low in contrast. Tha camera location is fine.

I wondor if there are any aftermarket cameras that mount in the factory location.

 

The interwebs has loads of suggestions, how to install and kits for a backup camera, I installed in my neighbour’s truck a system with dash and backup cameras it is wireless, he bought on EBay. It works great has memory stick storage.
