Brake line question...

So kid was driving the 07 hhr. (Luckily in town).. said the brake pedal went to the floor and had no pressure, so they baby it home.

I have 2 coil of copper brake line at the house. Might as well replace all the hard lines at once and be done with it.

What flare type does the hhr brake lines use?
what size is the hard brake lines?

(Hoping to cut off fittings, clean em up and reuse em)

Does the HHR still use the SAE double-flare?

I know a lot of newer cars use the DIN bubble flare.

I have never had to replace an HHR brake line. They are coated with a black coating which seems to work great against corrosion.

If I had to replace the lines, I would buy a kit of pre-bent lines.

To the OP, did you actually see a puddle of brake fluid and a leaking line? I have had the same thing happen (pedal to the floor) on other cars and it was the master cylinder.

Not yet, I'm at work, just preparing for the worst.

Why would anyone jump to leaking brake lines? I might think of the flexible lines, not the hard lines. MC first, booster, flexibles then maybe cylinders/calipers; way down at the bottom is hard lines.

Living in the rust belt plus the previous owner had replaced some lines without the coating on them. Plus there is no break fluid at all now in resivour, haven't had time to put it in the air to check anything on it.

Looks like the copper alloy is well accepted.

The straight copper, the internet is all over the place. Many say it is a bad idea. Many even say it is illegal. I would caution against using it for brake lines. Do your research if you're considering using it.

I just have kids driving farm truck...

I still haven't put it into air to check it. But I did just move it closer to garage lol. But I did notice brake fluid all over ground, front driver side and left a trail from where they parked it to the garage.
