Buying Off the Dealer Lot

Just wondering ...many of you seem to have ordered your new HHR and are waiting many weeks for delivery. I'm not sure I could stand to wait that long. I just bought mine a month ago off the dealer lot. I was able to get all the options I wanted and the color too, along with a very good deal, with no wait. Now I know that some colors are hard to get, an example being White. All of you who ordered yours, did you special order certain options or colors? Did you order when no dealers had any in stock. Again just wondering because it seems like such a long wait.

I bought mine of a lot and the only option I had to give up that I wanted was leather. I couldn't order one and wait either.

White is being manufactured the first quarter of this year as per an EMail directly from Chevy.
I did my howmeork! They are just starting to hit the dealerships now. I ordered exactly the options I wanted on March 2, 2006! I have a 4-8 week, as per my dealer. If I'm gonna pay 20K for something, I gonna get exactly what I want and am willing to wait for it because I think it's gonna look SOooo cool!

I went through the Chevy website. You can go through the site, find a dealer, then check their stock. Mine was on the factory lot when I bought it. I still wish I held out for running boards!

I ordered mine in September of 2005 and at that time the dealers did not have but one in stock and there were only about 6000 manufactured. The one on the lot had the small 2.2 and it was orange. It had a spoiler and cloth seats. so I wanted all the bells and whistles with out the roof rails and spoiler. I orderd the 2lt with all the chrome package and 17' Plished aluminum wheels. Main reason I special ordered is because I could get what I liked. That is what is so attractive about the HHR. It's is all the options.

It was eight weeks. Give or take a couple of days. Being from California, you might get it a week sooner. They are shipped by rail from Mexico.

I bought mine off the Lot, I did not take the running boards, roof rails, leather or on star. Other then that I have every option for the 2LT.

I had a dealer do a computer search for one that met my requirements. They found one that exceeded my requirements, discounted it $1700, and had it on their lot for me to pick up in three days. I didn't get the color I would have ordered but I didn't wait two months for it, either, and I got more in options than I had expected.
