Camping with the HHR

Hi all, I just bought a New Napier SUV tent and hooking it up to my 2008 Chev HHR as a dry run for a camping trip I will do in two weeks, I like this and think it will work out well for me and saves money on motels, check out my quick video!! I will do another when I am camping with full set up. would love to hear any stories of others using there HHR to camp with and any advise.

Looks good.
Hope you have a way to kill the dome light, etc. so you don't kill the battery.

Interior lights will go out after 15-20 mins. if a door(s) or the hatch is left open.
That's part of the HHR's battery run down protection system.

This was a good video too! I’m looking at the smaller domed fly no exterior floor space Napier SUV tent myself. Please post an update after your first show!

I also have the door rain shields and some no see Um mesh to put outside my windows with magnets.

Love the dog decals...miss my long coat chi!

My worry is running the battery down down with the door open buzzer or the tailgate open sensors.

Read post # 4 & don't worry.

And take the key out of the ignition switch...

Camp battery
well my 06 battery ran down three times...my 09 once. No key in ignition, or chargers left in socket. 09 was door ajar, 06 was dome light. Yes I’m afraid. I guess operator error but I’m still afraid.

Carry one of those lithium ion battery packs that jump start a the vehicle - they are quite small and do a great job. Some of them also can be used for charging your cell phone etc..

If used, make sure you connect to the correct connections under the hood or jump directly to the battery.

Thanks! I was just looking at those on amazon. That would make me feel more secure.
