Is it a car or a truck?
State of Arizona calls ours a Van! Hartford Auto Ins. calls it a Chevy HHR LS (That's all the policy says!). The Dealer paperwork when we bought it calls it a Car/Truck.
So I guess you can call it just about anything you want.
It’s more SUV then car to me… However, it gets good gas mileage and I wouldn’t tow more then a jet ski with it. I have friends that have a Jeep Grand Cherokee w/ v8 and that’s all they tow with theirs. Anyway, I look at it and don’t see car.

Too each his or her own.

I just took SB to the hand car wash place and used my sister's VIP card--she has an 07 Tahoe LT so it costs more to wash--but they only charged me the 'car' price!
I was curious as I think my insurance charges more if they can classify it as a truck--and I have a truck..oh well..
I agree--at Costco it's a truck, at the car wash, it's a car!
That pretty much sums it up!

I'd take either one of these car/truck automobiles, just think of the possibilities
Remarkably it is considered a truck by GM!

GM lists truck sales in chart 3-1P and car sales in chart 2-1P. The HHR is listed in 3-1P not 2-1P. This classification has the advantage of raising the truck CAFE ratings for the manufacturer. The PT cruiser serves the same function for Chrysler. It is based on the flat load surface, IIRC. I do agree with the poster who argues that it is really a car chassis. GM is probably bringing in more car based trucks in the future.

The first picture is an Australian Holden Ute which is a rear wheel drive vehicle with engine as big 6l. v-8. The second vehicle is a Brazilian Chevrolet Montanna sport with a 1.8 L. 4 Cly engine.

Like the PT Cruiser, I believe it gets classified as a truck by the manufacturer which helps GM or Chrysler showing improved fleet gas mileage with their truck line. I'd say its an SUV without the SUV suspension, so I look it to be an economy station wagon. At least that was why I bought the HHR, good cargo capacity and good milage.
I sort of think of a SUV that has some off the road capabilities and personally I wouldn't try my HHR on any off the road trails.

The way i see it the only vehicle's that i've owned have been a truck and wagon's. Why would anyone look down on a wagon, they are by far the best of both a truck and and car with out the unnecessary waste of a suv.
