In my opinion its an SUV. SUV is a body style and has nothing to do with the chassis its built on. The body is an SUV style body. A wagon, station wagon would be a modified version of a coupe or sedan. To be a wagon it would have to look like a Cobalt with a wagon back. Since it sits higher and has its own body, it is an SUV.

It's a Cobalt platform. If it looked like the Cobalt, it would have been called either a 5 door or a wagon. But since a wagon is considered "taboo"
, probably a 5 door. Since they desided to make it resemble the 49, they slip it under that truck catagory to help with their EPA/CAFE ratings. That is all. It is not a truck in any sense of the word. It does not even have anything close to the ground clearance to be even though of as an SUV. Those that refuse to call it a wagon, just have an ego problem IMO. And the CUV term these is nothing more that a "macho" term so they don't have to call it a wagon. Get over it people.

IT'S A WAGON...........

Coming from a Blazer, and living in a family that has driven SUV's for a long time, I can say with all certainty that this is a WAGON. Or a hatchback car. Not even close to a truck. It handles like a car, sits as low as a car, the back seats look like a compact car, the interior feels like a compact car, it's just got head room above and a lot of cargo space in the back.

I wanted a car with cargo space to replace my fuel-ineffecient Blazer, so I got this. But this is not a utility vehicle in any sense of the word. Some people are disillusioned. Whenever I park it next to a bunch of other vehicles, I always look back and look at how tiny it next to minivans and stuff, so that settles it. Not a truck.

In my opinion it has an SUV body. I dont care if it is really a wagon, I will call it that. I used to drive a celebrity wagon. I have also had a Blazer, a van, a few hatchbacks, and a few sports cars. The HHR most closely resembles an SUV body to me. I have also worked on over 4000 cars. I dont really care what it is though because I love it so much.

BTW, the Scion XB is on a corolla frame, what is that thing. The Dodge Caliber is on a Neon Frame just like the PT. And older Honda minivans were built on the Accord platform.
Also the Dodge Magnum is classified as a truck.
Whatever it is, I will love it and give it a good home, even if cars, trucks, and SUV families dont give it a home. We may need a judge to give an official ruling.

The Caliber is a totally different platform than the Neon, that is why the PT and Neon will be bye bye soon.

The Claiber is the PT's replacement.
