Chasing a noise...

Ok, sooo.. long story short, wife said "turn now" (we may have been fighting the night before and that am), I turned NOW.
Down a ditch and up a hill. Tore the passenger side wheel well off, busted some parts, but was still driving/able.
drove it for a few months with a messed up alignment, gained a weird "clunking" especially when breaking and at slow bumpy speeds. so this past week, I decided to fix it.
NEW (both sides)
Lower ball joints
Inner/outer tie rods
Sway bar links
Sway bar bushings
Wheel hubs
Brake pads.
Transmission pan, gasket and speed sensor..
cv axles..
And the "clunk" is still there.... on driver side.. wth do I need to look at next, that would "clunk clunk clunk" at slow speeds over bumps and especially when braking?
(I will get sound clip soon)

Struts or strut mounts.

That would absolutely suck monkey b@**$. Cause they were new before i decided to put it in the ditch.
Is there a way to check those?

It's only on driver side, no matter what I do. Just trying to get it back to normal before I get alignment and tires.

Lower control arm rear bushings.

I thought the same. So I swapped out a set I had here, still got the sound.

Friend just told me, hhr have steering shift problems that putting it in ditch my have made it worse... so now I'm googling that as well.

Intermediate steering shaft could be damaged, loose steering rack bolts , subframe bolts could also be loose, damaged upper engine mount, transmission mounts, check all the fasteners. Those LCA rear bushings too! I think RJ might have something there.

I'll start doing another shake down.

Also will add, steering wheel vibrates like crazy, especially when using the brakes.

Damaged hub? Bent wheel rim ?

SwaintaN 12-14-2021 08:35 AM

I replaced wheel hubs, but my luck would be bar one out of box. Thinking of swapping rims to front and back and left and right. Seeing if it follows.
