Was considering the HHR, couldn't pull the trigger! It's killing me....

Hey Mike,
Did you check out the 07's? I have heard that they made some subtle changes between the 06 and 07 interior. I know i have a centercouncilish compartment in the middle of my dash that i put my Ipod my wallet my cellphone...ect. I'm not too sure if the 06 LS has this. I came from a loaded Explorer, and the interior is way different but after a week of messing with the controls I got the seat perfect with a balance of armrest height and "lean" angle. I havent had any complaint with the cupholders, and I drive like a maniac. They hold better than my explorer did. Check out the 07's and let me know if they are different.

Thanks guys.

Chris - I will double check on the 2007's. I don't think I remember seeing anything different.

The thing that has got my biggest intrigue right now is after I made the comment about incentives. It got me thinking...the current offers end on Monday. I wonder if there will still be anything for 2006 models after this?

Anyone have any prior experience with this? There are two 2006 models locally that I would consider and if the deal got considerably better that would probably change my mind. I mean if it was a steal...how could you not say no?

For now, I'll just hang tight and see what happens....wonder how long it takes for them to announce new incentives?

I'm betting they will continue the incentives and for two reasons, one there are alot of HHR's out there in inventory, mostly '07. And secondly we are getting into the end of the model year. My 2 cents..........

Man, I never thought of this. When do 2008 models usually show up? Maybe they'll make some changes for 2008. We all know the SS is coming, maybe they'll be some changes inside. Although I've seen the panel pictures and that looks to be the same interior. Will the panel be a 2008 or 2007 model.

Z-man - will do. I'll take some tonight and post them.

Thanks,

Mike

One of the salesman I talked to last Thursday said he was almost certain that incentives would more than likely extend into the summer when the 2008's start to show up

Hey Mike, welcome, Here is my also.
I had a hard time making the decision to buy my HHR. I have the 2LT loaded, and have had it over a year. I have always been a Chevy owner, so with that out of the way, I had an Astro before my HHR, an Astro before that and a 85 Monte SS before that, so going to the HHR was a shock to me as a car owner and a Chevy owner in particular. 4 cylinder, little wagon/Sport Vehicle. I miss the load carrying and the room up front of the van. It had a doghouse that held plenty of space along with the console I made for it. Also it too had the seats with armrests, and really was a nice vehicle to drive as far as driver comfort. As far as the HHR and others, well, like I say, I've had great service from my Chevrolets. 2 Astros over 100,000 miles, almost 200,000 on the 94, 200,00 miles on my old Celebrety 175,000, etc, The HHR gets better mileage than about any other comparable vehicle out there. I needed mileage, soo here is one plus, the power was amazing to me really, something I feel is a must, a plus there. The inside was barron at best, yes, but still has some nice things, standard A/C, power windows, power mirrors, Power Steering, pulse wipers, rear defroster, Auto Lights, bucket seats, tilt, cruise, nice radio really, Mine has the premium, with XM. Yes it has a brain that lets you know somethings going on with your vehicle and some other neat things that don't come on comparable vehicles. Seems to be plenty of room really, as I too am 6'1", 250#, but fit great even with the sunroof. Is a blast to drive, draws attention, and is just cool looking.
I had thought about a car, Monte or Impala, but this does have a fairly good pay load really, more than any car. I have one bad problem, I have a 16 year old that is 6'5", 280 and he has a problem riding in it front or back, soo, vacation with this isn't going to work. You will have to decide what you want, and please, get what makes you happy, because you will be paying for it. I am for mine, and am living with it and am getting used to it more everyday.

I'm confused From the Jeep's description it sounds like you are talking about a Compass or a Patriot. I thought the Compass was the only one to have that removable flashlight?

In any case there are lots of choices in this price range. If you are talking about the Patriot/Compass/HHR those three offer tremendous value. If the feature set of even a fully loaded HHR don't meet your needs, and the Jeeps do have those things I guess you have to decide what is more important.

There are loads of good vehicles know in the "economy car" price range, but I'm not sure if ANY of them can compare to Trailblazer LTZs, Sierra SLTs, etc...

Hey, I'm coming over from a '98 Sidekick that had a 5 speed, no air, and the oly power accessories were power brakes and steering. My LS is a Cadillac in comparison!

So far all I can find out about improvements inside the HHR is in 2008 1/2 (mid year) they will relocate the window controls onto the doors. I'll keep trying to learn more. Too late for me I can't afford to trade just for some fixes to GM's poor decisions inside the first models. Hopefully they will rethink the console area and maybe put better rotors on it too! They will end up loosing $$$ for their failure to get it right the first time. Not what they need right now.

Thumbs up

My advice to anyone who has any reservations about buying an HHR is not to buy it! I have loved them from the first one I seen on the transporter at the dealers. I would love them if I had to sit on a milk crate and work the windshield wipers by hand. They are not for everyone so I would suggest if you don't like anything about it don't buy. When you sign the papers it is too late to have any regrets.
