I've never had a problem with the little yellow/orange LED on the steering wheel, or the message on the DIC, frankly I'd rather not have a cruise control icon staring back at me all the time.

This went off on such a tangent from the parent thread, I moved things into their own thread.

The yellow one I was talking about is the on/off light on the steering wheel. But, the DIC message does come on momentarily after I "set" the Cruise Control.

Next; we need to talk about the lack of an OverDrive indicator and button.:roflol::propeller:

So I wonder why we have a parking brake light on the dash and yet we set it and exit the car nobody there to see the light! But a bell to remind you the P brake is on when you get back in and start the car?
My cruise has the light on the button on the steering wheel and the DIC show cruise engaged when I set it while driving.

:propeller: I have one,,,kind of, sort of. Well, at least it tells me what gear I'm in on my manual trans.

There would be no need since you can't turn the OD on and off like you can in some vehicles.

Why is the HHR, the only vehicle, on Earth, to not have one...:skull1:

It really is handy, as I can look over at the dash, when my wife, or kid, are driving, one of our other cars, & yell at them, if theyr'e not using the cruise control, on a long drive.
Also, one of my cars has a mis-adjusted brake switch, which I have to get around fixing so day, & I know instantly, when it's on/off with the icon.
I also have another car, with a flakey set button, & just tap it, until I see, the green light.
I guess that I'm just so used to this icon, from every other car/truck, that I have ever owned, I really miss it...:nuts:

My 2014 dodge caravan only has a cruise on indicator in the central display, nothing says if its set....
Take your foot off the gas and see if you slow down. Or just hit the set button to make sure.

If it weren't for the "touchy and peculiar" nature of the GM-Lan "CAN-BUS" multiplexed wiring in HHR's, you could try to retrofit a green LED somewhere more visible as a secondary "Cruise Control Indicator".

But as we all know 2005, HHR's are not as friendly to work on electrically when compared to the "good 'ol days".

Ever get the feeling that you're the only guy in the room who can set the point gap on a 327 Chevy using a nothing more than a dime and a pack of paper matches?

Yep, that dime used to rub the point contacts clean, to get home in a pinch! And no cruise control to worry about!

Exactly! Plus the dime could be used as a screwdriver in a pinch, and the cover of a matchbook just happened to be just about spot on for regapping the points.
