Cup Holders

We just got a 2011 LT and the dual cup holders under the E-Brake handle are worthless. Does anyone make a replacement to pop in the rectangle hole? Or does anyone make an insert to pop in the cubby hole in front of the shifter?

Used to be many companies on EBay way back when. Not so much nowadays.

General Motors makes direct fit replacements.
Reasonably priced at your local pick and pull salvage yard.
Your location isn't listed.
I can take a look next time I'm pulling parts and ship them to you if I find nice ones.

I have mocked up a useable cup holder for our 2011. It is ID 3.1", depth 2.4". No modifications to the vehicle needed. I will send picts in the vehicle after work.
Here is the usable mock up. I meet with a 3D printer contact this weekend to see what it would take to make these and how much $.
Those containers hold 28oz and are from Walmart.

I worked for GM on the design side of the business for 16 years but these cup holders are the dumbest thing I have ever seen. I am trying to provide a solution.
The OEM ID is 2.9". My design ID is 3.1". This does not sound like much but it is just under a 1/4" gain.
Here are the in car picts. Both 28oz mugs fit well. They clear the E-brake handle and the pass arm rest can come down.
Again, I plan to meet with the 3D printer resource on Saturday. I will let you know then if my work continues or it stalls.

I think my 2011 had them in front of the shifter, side by side.

We own a 2011. I am still new to the HHR World but I have looked at 25+ HHRs in junk yards ovet the past 2 months. I do not remember seeing front console cup holders.
Here is a picture of an older HHR in front of the shifter.
Here are also 2 picts of our 2011 hole in front of the shifter with and without the rubber insert.

Do you have picts of your 2011 cup holders? Thx.

2006-2008 had the window buttons forward of the lever. They moved to the doors in 2009 (2008 for SS).
My memory was wrong, again. I just never had a problem with the location or size, and I had a tumbler of coffee all day every day. I have long legs, so the seat was always as far back as it would go. I never use the parking brake.
I always thought the change bucket was weird the change slot on the 2008 was better.

JJP ; "I see what you are trying to accomplish now", said the blind man looking at the pictures.
And from experience when my Love's fresh large coffee tipped from my Astro van console beverage holder a few years ago.
Spilling and causing a delay in the mid-west x-country trip, after a refueling.

I think you did a great job with the HHR mods fab work. Good as you can for your purpose.
I put a middle seat in van from a ford pickup. It gave me up to four cup holders if folded down.
Van is 1999 and back then the cup holder design was decent, adequate for straight line driving not turns!
All depends in what your drinking from. The spirited beverages always frowned upon when driving.
