How would backup lights/brake lights power it continuously even run lights are not 100% ? they still need a constant power supply when operating. I get the wireless feed but the units still need a power supply. ANYWAYS....

I got mine installed. I couldnt get the fish to go all the way to front or back again like the first try, even trying for the sunroof opening, it would go half way and jam, even if fed from the sunroof to the rear? So, I just fed the wire above the windshield, tucked under the pillar and weather seals on the driverside and behind the headliner where needed. was having troble trying to get the 3rd brakelight panel down so I could feed the wires into the loom but for now it is just looped to the hatch, perfect view of the rear, there is a red wire to switch it into backup camera mode so I need to figure that one out as well later when not so damn hot. I like the 3 channel recording so you know whats happening front, back and inside.

Quick question, How can I redo the outlet to cut power on/off with key, instead of constant power?

You would have to wire into a switched fuse in the interior fuse box

All of the "unused" fuse position on the BCM are switched on the RAP relay.

Why would you want the backup camera to be on all the time? For one thing it is illegal and dangerous for the driver to be watching video.
I guess, if you really want to record what is going on behind you you could just run wires up through the door sills or the headliner. And lots of expensive SD cards.

Under the driver side kick panel , side of waterfall/shifter area... which would be switched power if any, empty spaces or which can I splice into? I an going to just wire in an external lighter adapter I have so I can just plug in my dash cam without cutting any wires and can be removed easily. Also this would eliminate the power supply as it will be hidden behind the dash cover instead of sitting in the cubby hole of an ashtray. Thanks for your help.

To be specific power on with key on and power off when key off/out.

I didnt say having the backup lights running all the time, I SAID.... all the rear lights dont run all the time and therefore would be useless to power the wireless system. And I found out the extra power wire on my system was for the added lighting for night vision (infared) which isnt needed as it picks up really well in low lighting. So I have a great field of view front and rear on the dash cam and very happy with it. Called my insurance company today to see if there were additional discounts since Ive installed the dash cam !
A few neat features are, it has an internal battery and will record motion detected, shock if someone bumps the vehicle ( video will be saved automatically if in an accident )
