Unless you wired it into the cars SRS system I don’t see how it could detect an accident on its own.

it has a built in shock feature with 3 senstivity levels, when it senses a jolt it will automatically save the video by locking it so it wont rewrite over it. Im sure it will save plenty of pothole oopsies LOL
Who said anything about the backup lights being on all the time? You seem to want the back up CAMERA on all the time; I was trying to tell you that it is illegal and dangerous for the driver to have an active display in their sight line. Backup cameras are set up to ONLY operate when the car is in reverse and forward facing cameras can only record unless the car is in park.
To answer your original question; Run wires anywhere you want, under the carpet, under the door sills above the headliner. All of those options present some engineering. All of the "not used" fuses in the BCM are switched through the RAP relay (they stay on for a bit after the key is off).

No I never said I wanted the backup camera on all the time, but the rear view dash cam is on all the time anyways as it is a 3 channel dash cam ( Front, Rear and Inside ) so it records everything happening in front of you, behind you as well as what you are doing inside the car. This isnt a backup camera, its a dash cam .
What I need to know is.... How do I remove the 3rd brakelight panel so I can access that area for wiring?

sounds like you want it on all the time. Are you having a hard time understanding that it is a transmitter attached to the camera and a receiver attached to the HU? They don't need the same power supply. The transmitter does not need constant power.
Did you look in your Owner Manual under "bulb replacement"?

So I tested the fuse block with a test light and the empty space #22 was switched power On/off with key and no delay. So, I installed an add a fuse, and grounded the socket to the metal tab for the kick panel tab. I used a 5amp fuse as it shouldnt be drawing much power ( I have a 3amp fuse as well ) but figured the 5 amp would be best. I tucked the socket with the power outlet under the carpet under the kick panel so there is no rattling. Everything working as it should. Once it starts cooling down outside, I decided to move the rear camera under the rear trim by license plate as the camera gets a glare from the glass at night, will have a clearer view at night but may not have the angle that I like as it is up higher... oh well, we have to give a little I suppose .
Overall Im satisfied with this little camera, I plan to get another once I get a truck again.
