Day Time Running Lights

Does any one know how to shut off the DRL for good. I hate the DRL. I just want to be able to turn on my park lights when I want and to turn on the head lights when I need them. Don't like the auto lights at all.

I haven't researched it on the HHR yet but I'm sure disabling them isn't too hard. I know on my S-10 all I had to do was to lift out one of the small relay's in the under hood fuse box and bend one of the tabs to prevent it from being inserted.

I'm going to go to the dealer and talk to the wiring tec in the shop. See what wires or relay I can mod to do this.

I like the way GM has the DRL on the amber turn lights. I'm going to rewire my 65 El Camino so the turn signal light stay on as DRL. As far as the auto light, just rotate he knob at the end for the turnsignal lever down ant it will turn off the auto system.

Thats what I do, but as soon as I take off the park brake the head lights come on. And the little light on the roof liner flashes on and off. Almost like it is confused if the head lights should be on or off. This is only when it just starts to get dark, but it is still day light.

I agree with coolsurf and freshone. Just turn 'em off.

Unless your objecting to the amber lights?

I think it is kinda cool to run with the ambers and the fogs, or at least until
some bizzy body trooper tells me to that's beaking a law or something...
