It's not for rattling, it's a safety issue.
If the car were to roll over and the stuff in the compartment hit the latch just right, the stuff could come out and injure you....... :eek:

a month ago I got the plastic thing for my glove box...Didn't really want to put it on because of how much space it takes up.:frown:. Thirsday I opened the glove box and "POP" the latch broke off the lid. Called dealer and they replaced the whole box with the new style with the locking pins Friday :thumb:...Very cool dealer:one:

A video was released showing the installation. I like this compartment and as per the video, I'm concerned not only about the thing taking up room (I know some said it doesn't and I trust their judgement), but will interfere with the overall open area when trying to place larger articles into the compartment, since it is at the top.
