Newbie Hello

Just wanted to say hello. First time posting here so I am not sure whether this is the correct location for a question or not. I have been searching through posts and pictures looking for info on stock muffler removal without any luck. I want to install a trailer hitch (for a bike carrier) and need to be able to drop the muffler. I "think" I know how it comes lose, but don't want to start prying or anything and screw something up. I have only had the car (2007, Silver HHR 2LT) for about 3 weeks and love it so far. Any help on the muffler removal will be greatly appreciated. I have bought and restored Corvettes, Baja Buggies and other cars, so I am somewhat mechanical inclined. Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum!

You don't remove the muffler!!!!!! You just un-hitch it from its rubber hangers. I'll grab the video for you.

Thanks for the welcome to the site...sorry it took so long to get back to you, still trying to figure out how things work here. As for towing...not planning on towing, just want a hitch so I can use a bike rack on occasion. Purchased a Curt Hitch and borrowed a muffler remover tool (pliers like device) and installed the hitch yesterday with very few problems, other than laying on your back to do the work. Looks great.
