E brake.

Hello, I noticed sometimes that there will be a noise from the back tires when I engage the e brake, Is this normal? I’m not sure if it’s because it’s not fully engaging, etc or what. But it only happens sometimes and It happens when say I’m shifting my weight in the car, etc. It’s not a crazy noise just a bump type of noise. I can’t really tell.

Make and model ? (Lets us know if you’re asking about rear drum or disc brakes)

2010 LT1 2.2L 4cyl, I’m asking more so about both if they are plausible. I don’t notice it now that I’m parked and e braked at a friends, with me shifting the weight, I didn’t know if it was just the e brake not fully engaging, but will be looking at my tires for maintenance soon.

How many clicks do you hear when you engage your e brake?

The E brake only works the back brakes. Since yours is a regular HHR, it has drum brakes in the rear.
Only the SS had disc rear brakes.
My guess is the E brake is slipping. Sounds like a short grunting/popping noise.

I had noises from my rear brakes and one of the springs disconnected inside the rear drum. I ended up replacing the shoes, drums, and all the hardware as it made quite a mess in there before I caught it.

Power Stop had a good kit, I installed one in my 2011 , to ensure I got the right parts in one package

This kit, I purchased from Rock Auto, they are currently out of stock but you can click on notification button.

The early models used a different hold down spring system (just a FYI thing) used on my 2006 model.

E brake cables work the same and adjust the same, same as adjusting the brake shoes

My 2008 adjusters turned the opposite of my 2011 adjusters.
