Flex-Fuel Chevy HHR - Auto Shows
This will be GM’s first four-cylinder capable of running on an ethanol blend.

BY ALISA PRIDDLE, Car and Driver February 2008

In its continued push to convert its products to E85-capable vehicles—meaning they can run on a gasoline blend that contains up to 85 percent ethanol—General Motors announced its first four-cylinder model will be the 2009 Chevrolet HHR.
Troy Clarke, GM’s president of North American operations, made the FlexFuel HHR announcement at the 2008 Chicago auto show. It goes on sale later this year.
The HHR is available with a choice of a 2.2-liter or 2.4-liter Ecotec engines. Studies cited by GM show a 23-percent reduction of carbon dioxide emissions when the engines are run on E85.

I really don't understand why anyone would want it, maybe in SS, but i would never want that drop in gas mileage.

Really "sneaky" the way GM did that. That's also the reduction in MPG.

I agree. Though I wouldn't personally use E85 at this time at least they are pursuing alternatives.
