Engine light still on after replacing camshaft and crankshaft sensor

i have a 2011 chevy Hhr and check engine light came on with codes P016 bank 1 sensor A and P017 bank 1 sensor B. I had my camshaft sensor and crankshaft sensor fixed and my check engine light is still on. Can someone tell me why? The mechanic has clear codes and they came back the next day

Wrong parts for those codes.
(I'm sure someone will answer you and elaborate on why you need to look at the timing chain and guides )

How many miles are on this car ?
How long have you had this car ?
When did the P0016, and 17 1st appear: Time and mileage ago.
Yes, there should be 2 zeros in those codes. Your post only shows 1 zero, so you need to clarify the exact code numbers.

Hi Contennia, to the forums!!

Please do not drive the HHR anymore until the timing set is replaced!

The chain has stretched beyond the ability of the tensioner to provide tension, or a guide has worn out or broken. This has allowed the chain to skip one or more links. Continued operation is risking catastrophic damage to the engine.

Those codes mean the sensors are GOOD. They mean that for some reason the camshafts are not where they are supposed to be according to the position of the crankshaft. The component that is responsible to keep then synchronized is the timing chain. The sensors are coils of wire encased in epoxy, they don't wear out.

It is odd that you have both codes, I am guessing that you ignored the CEL for a long time.

I don't know where the titles of the codes came from, but they are incorrect which is the problem with relying on reader supplied names of tests.:
P0016= Crankshaft Position Intake-camshaft Position Correlation
P0017= Crankshaft Position exhausy-camshaft Position Correlation

If the timing chain is off a tooth or more then the P0016, and possibly the P0017, well because the timing is off.
been there fixed that. The chain had dropped a tooth while I was changing my timing chain , it was easy to fix
