First HHR

First ever HHR...

so bought a 2011, 2.2 LT non running car. Bad VVT valve,....replaced an got car running....10900 miles so got all the parts...new waterpump, new chains/guides, new cam phasers. All that installed....so pulling oil pan to retrieve old guide parts and clean gunk out.
Im always open for advice and suggestions. Im an old VW guy so hhr new to me

I wouldn't worry too much about pieces of nylon in the sump. Also, would not worry about the phasers.

Take a good look at the LCA bushings. Whether you see leakage or not your struts and shocks need replacing. Keep the rear brakes manually adjusted. DexCool has a 5 year shelf life, don't use green.

Sump

Ok....so this car didnt have oul changes as it should so really gummed up. Also, when i was trying to get intermediate gear bolts out i dropped a dowel pin and it when in the front opening of the oil pan so im taking it off. Question is, ...best way to get the dripstick bolt out. I can see it with a mirror but thats about it. Lol

Intermediate gear bolts

....i ended up using my old chain and clamped vise grips to lock the old gears.

As far as I know the dip stick tube is a force fit, no bolt. Intermediate gear; what is that? Maybe you should start with non-VW book; mechanics is mechanics but nomenclature differs.

Mine had 10mm bolt to intake manifold.

...sorry, counter balance gears
