Front end noise

I'm new to the forum, please bear with me. I have a 2007 HHR and I'm getting a clicking/clunking noise when turning left at moderate speed. I thought it was the right CV axle as there was some movement in it when jacked up. I replaced it but the noise is still the same. Would appreciate any suggestions as to where to look next.

Thank you

I would like to add that I'm aware of the thump that seems to be a common problem caused by the steering shaft. I've had it replaced and it lasted a while. the noise I'm experiencing occurs on any surface, only turning left when there is a load on the right side; it is a steady rhythmic clicking/thumping that continues until there is no load on the right side. The wheel bearing appears okay, no play and no grinding or scraping, could this still be a source of the noise?

Here is the thread that can help you diagnose what is causing your noise.

Problem solved

Wanted to share this, was on the forum a couple of days ago looking for help with a cyclical front end clicking/clunking noise. It wasn't a CV axle or wheel bearing, it was a (all) wheel balancing weight. Just had new tires put on when the noise started whenever a left turn was made. Long story short, it was the new "high density plastic" wheel weights that were hitting the struts when turning resulting in the clicking sound. Had everything re-balanced with the adhesive weights and noise is gone. Apparently, the lead weights are being phased out for environmental reasons, but be aware that the new plastic weights are much bulkier.
Thanks to everyone who offered advise and help, this is a great site.
