Fuel / Gas Line versus Vapor Line - Inside vs Outside

I am installing a set of fuel and vapor lines. I forgot to document which line goes on the inside and which goes on the outside as they go under the vehicle. From other folks pictures it seems the Fuel line is on the inside of the vehicle as it passes under the drivers seat area and then towards the rear it is the top line. Could someone verify this ? Mine is a 2008 with the 2.4L but I am guessing they are all the same given when I bought the lines all motors had the same part number. I purchased them from Lines to Go and am assuming they are meant to be installed in the original locations in the plastic brackets. Once installed i would be glad to share what I learned along the way but really need to know the locations before I proceed.

What is the outside dimensions of the originals ? If they are two different sizes I would think it would match up to the plastic line retainer clips.

Chiming in!, yes the lines are both 3/8 , please double check the steel line that connects to the plastic line from the fuel tank, mine had a burr and cut the o-ring.
yes you have the routing correct.
I installed mine loose then started from the rear to place them into the clamps.

Take extra care at the e brake cable, and wear safety goggles to keep all the crud out of your eyes

I took the back drivers brake drum off and disconnected the E-Brake while I was waiting for the lines to get delivered so it is kind of out of the way.

Fuel Lines are on and car has been running several weeks now. One issue I had was the fuel line under the hood I could not line up to the plastic bracket. The lines I bought are from Lines to Go. In the first picture below you will see I put a short piece of old line in the bracket and then zip tied it to the new line. The new line runs at an angle at the height of the bracket thus it would not snap in. If I lowered it then it did not look right under the car. The second picture is lower under the hood and the third picture is under the car. If anyone used the same lines did yours fit in the plastic bracket ??? My HHR is a 2008 with the 2.4 if it makes any difference.
