Fuse 53 Relay 54

I tried searching with no luck and have ordered repair manuals so I can learn more about my new to me 2011 LT. I was in the fuse box under the hood pulling the horn fuse while I was adding the radio controls for the steering and noticed that there is a fuse and relay in the location for the fog lights. My LT did not have that option installed and I am wondering what else runs through 53/54?

Nothing else. As per pages 6-106 and 6-107 of your owners manual.

Thanks for looking. Manuals are coming via slow boat so I will probably pull apart the fuse box and see if see if those slots are actually wired.

If you need an owners manual, you can download them from here: https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/general-hhr-4/online-owners-manual-3074/

- very handy to have on the computer even if you have a printed copy in the car.

Thanks again Whopper. I had bookmarked that site and have hit it on a regular basis since getting my HHR. Stopped by one of the dealers in JAX today and they of very little help. Guess all they are interested in is selling cars. Thankfully there are a couple Chevy dealers in JAX so I will try another.

Why not download the .pdf? You don't have to read it online.

If you don't know how to do it: just click on the appropriate link, after the file pops up in Acrobat go to the file menu and choose "save". I think that's the way without looking.

Before taking the underhood fuse box apart I suggest you read up on the thing. It has several parts and some people have had problems with it staying together or getting it back together. Do a SEARCH!

Sno White, Thanks for the heads up. Not new to the game by any means but tips, tricks, and advice are always welcomed. I have read most of the related posts but will probably review again before starting anything.

OK. I looked at the wiring diagram and nothing but foglamps tie into that relay #54. I would assume that holds true for the fuse because it feeds power to that relay.
I believe that the reason the fuse and relay are there(even without factory headlamps) is because they are part of the headlamp/foglamp circuitry.
Factory foglamps only work with low beam headlights. Click on the high beams and the foglamps go out. There must be a back feed from the headlamp high beam circuit to the foglamp relay to shut them off.
I would NOT advize splitting the fuse box just to see whats there. Look at a wiring diagram like I did if you're just curious.

Firemangeorge, Thank you for the info. As for opening the fuse box, I thought it was necessary to tie in a wire to run the fogs. Guess I need to read some more.
