I know that we have had different threads abouts this, but now it is hitting closer to Tampa.
All Hess Stations now have Ethanol 10% or least in the gas. Walmart or Kmart are going to the same type mix. And others will be following.
So if my HHR is not setup for this what should I do? Will this hurt the engine?
Or do I not need to worry?

Not to worry, Karen. You won't really notice any difference with E10 and the car will handle it fine without any problems.

The only downside to be aware of is that ethanol only has about 80% of the BTU content of gasoline, so E10 will result in about a 2% loss of both HP and mileage.

Good thing I have a new exhaust system, Magnaflow cat back on the way!:D

E-10 ethanol is all I have been burning in my '06 with the 2.4L I love it, and I have noticed no problems at all! I am getting around 28 mpg in town with it and out on the road if I drive 65 I will get 32 mpg.

Just do not use E-85. that is a NO, NO.
Your MPG will show a decrease also even with the 10% ethanol

10% ethanol is the standard here, as it is the ONLY additive allowed in Massachusetts

Karen....if you have trouble....or any concerns, what members are telling you regarding E10 (10% ethanol) your Owners Book confirms it.


Firewatcher.......it is the only oxygenate allowed anywhere in the US per Federal Law. Other additives are in the gas, depending on the brand. For example, Chevron has Techron, etc.

Whenever I've used ethanol blended gas, I lose about 10% in fuel milage. However the blended fuels don't cost 10% less, making it a more costly driving experience. :frown:

I think they should for the 2009 model year of the HHR make it a FLEXFUEL like most everything else is in there line up of models... :confused: Who agrees??:roll:

Here in Houston 10% is standard at all gas stations .

Your car can run on 10% Ethanol, check you manual. I use it out here were i live. You just can not, and again, Can Not use 85%. I use the 10% since I got my car, and have had good gas milage from it.

Same here and it has been for quite some time. I don't think there's anywhere that sells straight 100% gas in my area anymore. :confused:
