Question Half Panel

Hi All,

New to chevyhhr.net, new to the HHR (still deciding what flavor to buy). My question is about the HHR Half Panel: I see pictures of them every now and then, but I don't think I've ever seen one on eBay, or on Chevy's website. Were they a limited factory edition, or an aftermarket mod ? I poked around and really can't find much info about them. Seems like it was/is the best of all the models ............

From what I have read(being fairly new my self) is it was an option called AA5. I believe it was discontinued in 2008 or 2009. There is a mod i was looking into where you could purchse just the rear window fill in, trim to fit, weld it in, and then bondo and sand it conformed to the exhisting body. After all is said and done my local body shop wanted $2k to do the work with me providing the parts, keep in mind it was going to be $1600 just to repaint both rear quarters. The site i was looking at was http://www.pteazer.com/ and the product i was looking at was this http://www.limboland.net/Merchant2/m...roduct_Count=7 with only the back window kit. Ray Noewton is the gentleman i spoke with, kind of hard to get ahold of as he is normally in the shop, and the owner. If you leave a message with your phone number he wil get back with you and fairly quickly. He quoted me a price of about $200 for just the rear windows. They are made one gage thicker than the standard sheet metal on the vehicle per our discussion. I decided this route was to expensive at the moment but i might run with it later. I have tomany other things I am looking at getting done right now to sink $2k into this mode alone, as that same money could be used to pay for my cold air intake, cat back exhaust, seat covers, black crome grill, black chrome rear fascia, Fall ediition headlights, remote stereo controls, LED lights, LED fog lights, and a fw suspension parts. Hope this helps.

What would you do about the interior? All of that $$$ for the exterior and painting, I'd imagine that you'd have some serious searching to do for aa5 trim panels and/or custom trim. Sounds like a lot of work for a strange mod. All for modding a car, dont' get me wrong, but sounds like it'd be easier to find a aa5 than it would be to make one.

As for the interior the only thing different is the window part its just a cover behind the original panel. Here is some interior shots.

It is still available. The Chevy site now lists it as : solid rear quarter panel $195

And in this forums "How to Guide" you may want to look at this thread https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-tutorial-library-21/diy-1-2-panel-23392/

Yup Ive seen at least one member here with a 2010 AA5. Adds a distinctive touch to the vehicle. Great if you are looking to do some kind of graphics.

Would definitely be a nice easel (spelling) for artwork.

Welcome-

"Seems like it was/is the best of all the models"

Matter of opinion, Of course I think real Panels are the best of all models.
