Thanks to all the supportive folks. While I spent a couple decades behind the wheel of big trucks, a CB always there, I never really cared to "twang" up my speech to match what I heard. This is probably, in part, a result of my having to maintain careful and precise comms while flying. ATC doesn't really go for the whole CB slang thing.

It would be an interesting "feature", the car speeding up when you key the mic. If that were the case, I'd probably just build a mobile "desk" into the tailgate area and use it as a field mobile station. I haven't heard of any such issues with these cars, though.
