I picked up a 10x12 greenhouse for my wife the other day and fought with it in the ice and snow to get it down the driveway to the attached garage ( really wanted it in the shop to start assembling some of the panels ) but thats not going to happen until this crap melts. Since I cleared a couple paths for the wheels in the upper part of the driveway I can still get out, but during the day the sun is melting some ice where the exposed gravel is, just that it runs down and re-freezes at night making it difficult to get out the next morning grrrrrr
Anyways, Last night I picked up a pellet stove, super heavy but it fit in the HHR, this is something I am not willing to muscle on the iced over driveway at all. Ive debated driving down to the shop but then the HHR would be permanently stuck until everything melts away.... just cant do it, and still waiting on an approval to get the 4x4 Im trying to get.... I hate when I cant get things done as well as no help to do it.
Thursday I spread a few bags mortar mix and quickcrete on my iced over gravel drive hoping it will generate some heat and add traction. Friday evening it rained started around 44* and dropped into the 20s overnight, woke up saturday to porous ice , so it worked to an extent, I was able to get the HHR to the shop to unload the pellet stove, then I parked back at the top of the drive since the ice is still melting but refreezing since temps are dropping into the single digits all week. Whew what a job but the lower ground with the grage floor made the HHR lower to the floor so unloading this 450# beast was a breeze.
Good Job!! got up this morning to -11 degrees temps, frozen pipes (of course) Maybe they will thaw by Wednesday of this week. The joys of owning a 145+ year old house in Minnesota. Could have maybe got by if we had a few feet of snow. Only about 2 inches or so.
Nice stories fellas! and good work and ideas.
That's a HHR large load for sure, a pellet stove. There's time to chop ice and time to leave it be.
Here in NorCal fought off some low fog on the way to the golf course. Just hit 30 degrees.
Got there before sunrise (7:20) and a frost delay until 9:30
Dry January we need some Sierra snow pack or else this summer...
Mmmm 20 degrees!!! today it got up to -7 degrees outside. Much colder in the crawl space around my frozen pipes... Maybe Weds it will warm up enough for them to thaw out (???) Been frozen since Saturday night.

I'm jealous!! a stove and a garage!!! NICE!!!!
it was 5 outside, the sun wormed the shop to 20 ( dark metal roof ) only ran about 20 minutes so that was a pretty good jump in temps being it took almost 10 minutes to ignite the pellets. this week is getting into the negs at night and just the teens during the day,,,
