Thanks so much, Oldblue, yes I saw that thread already, but for mine HHR 2006 5-speed manual trans that cap is super hard to unscrew, I have tried try but is impossible so that is why I asked what kind of wrench will be more easy to unscrew.

PD: besides that cap is other plug similar to the fluid level check plug and drain plug, that MAYBE could be used for filling.

Thanks

The first thing that comes to my mind is to pull a clamp on the cork, preferably a spring clamp.
The protrusions of the clamp will allow you to hook the screw plug with some kind of tool. But this is a theory, I just think it's worth a try.

If space allows, a gas wrench will definitely help. If only there was access.

Perhaps a tie rod puller would be useful too

I don’t own a manual, so I can only relay information

Are you saying you found this fill plug?

We are talking about the fill port, but on a manual transmission .

Hi Guys, Saturday I replaced the transmission Fluid in my vehicle HHR 2006 manual Transmission 2.4 , was easy, the most difficulty was unscrewing the drain plug because is between the transmission and the frame.
What I did?.
1- unscrew the top plug on the transmission using an extension 3/8 with HEX 8 mm.
2- Unscrew the drain plug(with L key 8 mm) which was more difficult because I had to push and lift with a jack the transmission, and empty all transmission fluid(NO FLUSH).
3- unscrew the level check plug.
I use the transmission fluid Mobil DEX VI (two bottles about 1 L each).
4- using a long funnel 18 inches, put in the top of the transmission opened plug, making sure is inside the transmission and make sure the drain plug is screwed.
5- put the new fluid but keep an open ayes in the level check plug, that is beside the transmission because when you see the new fluid for that plug, means is almost full, screw when you see the fluid is running out..screw...but before the new fluid make sure the car is in the same level. before screw the plug put sealing to avoid any future issues.
