HHR Headlight Problem - HELP!!!

I have a problem that I can't find an answer to. Any help would be appreciated! An odd issue has just started with my 07 Fall Limited Edition. When you click the remote, the headlights (among others) come on. We all know this and my car does this fine. All the lights come on and there is no issue there. The problem happens when I get in and start the car. The RH headlight low beam is out, both with the headlights on regular and with the DRL's. The headlight DOES come on, like I said, when you click the remote button. What's up with this? Anyone have the issue or ever heard of it? More importantly, anyone know how to fix it? Thanks in advance! :thumb:

Seems to be either the bulb needs to be replaced , a loose relay, or ground wire.
The headlights are the DRL in your year HHR , the high beam filament get lower voltage when on DRL.
I recommend changing both headlight bulbs at the same time, cause the other side will give up around the same time

Someone (Donbrew) commented a while back that the DRL's use low beam on the HHRs. What button on the remote are you talking about - the lock/unlock?

Not sure what lights come on with clicking the remote - it might be the high beams ??

Try changing the bulb.

Common problem when the headlight burns out only 1 filament. Most people don't know how the system works, so they think something else must be wrong.
Just replace the bulb. Both bulbs as Oldblue suggested because that other one is 10 years old also.
You can't see the individual filaments because they're hidden under that little shroud in the housing.
And a WARNING. Make sure the gasket comes OUT with the old bulb. Lots of folks have found out you can't fit the new bulb in there if the old gasket is there.

Didn't we just go around the block with this exact problem 2 weeks ago?

I believe that the flash is high beams. Note that the BCM controls the hi beams but not the lows.

If you were to look at the wiring diagram would not be confounded.

Confirmed, the flash is the high beams

Each filament has its own fuse, in the underhood fuse block, probably not the problem, but worth a look before you go to the time and expense of replacing bulbs.

I appreciate the info you all have provided. I'm going to be tearing into the problem this weekend when I have some time. I doubt its the headlight itself because, as I said, when you click the remote to unlock the car, the RH headlight DOES come on. When you start the car the headlight does not work. I am thinking it's a BCM issue. Good news is that I work in a junkyard, bad news is that we have no 07's.

Could that be because the flash from unlocking is the hi beam and DRL is low beam? As pointed out in post #5 & #6.

Why are you blaming the most expensive and least prone to failure part, have you done something to cause damage to it? I'm getting fatigued from people blaming broken computers for everything. Over the years I have owned at least 20 desktops and laptops; the only failures I have experienced were self-inflicted and excessive life, I currently am using 5 15 year old computers with original hard drives, several found in the garbage.

Do you have access to Tis2web and a Tech2 and training to program a used BCM?

I’d just change the bulb. Nothing magic or mysterious
