Wow I didn't even know there were metal replacements. I found a company that makes them in South Florida but they're plastic that's what I've been having to do.

Well I finally received my LH door handle today after reading the advice on this forum about getting a metal replacement and which seller to buy from. And yes, even though I doubted the veracity of the “metal” claim it is indeed PLASTIC! To be fair the spring and the pin are metal. So I suggest those who claimed that they installed the “ new and improved metal door handle” should check theirs again...

Seems like only crappy plastic ones are available despite other claims! Beware...l

How about a link to what item you purchased? There are metal handles.

The one I gat 10 years ago was definitely magnetic. It cost about $2 more.
This one is $21 https://www.ebay.com/itm/173290374796

eBay will refund and free return "not as advertised" items.

Welcome to the world of confirmation bias. Looks like maybe you found someone who was falsely claiming a plastic handle was metal. I have installed metal handles twice I'm sure they're still available.

I guess I would be remiss if I didn't ask how you determined what your new handle is made of.

You can easily see the whitish plastic where the plating did not cover. Will try to post link the seller/pirate/ fraudster site on EBay.

They think "chrome plated" is the same as "metal". The Chinese have some odd translation problems. Well, there is a thin coating of metal.
I got a solar panel that was advertised as "5 Watts, 5 Volts, .125 Amps"; those who know what a Watt is will see the error. Amps X Volts = Watts. Got a refund, kept the item.

I just ordered all 4 for less than $90 including shipping and tax from autotechusa in FLA on Ebay. It says they are metal, not plastic. I have replaced several over the years from chevy. I would have bought metal before if I knew they were available.
This time it was real cold and just snapped with almost no pressure. Good thing I had already scraped the window and could open to reach outside. Too old to be climbing out windows or over the seat. Local dealer didn't have one so I checked here.
I'll get back on here and gripe if they aren't metal. Thanks for the help.
