The throttle linkage doesnt move at all without pulling the tv cable. When the carb is at wide open throttle, the cable is pulled all the way out. And when the carb is at idle, there i no tension on the cable. This is correct right?
The TV cable should have tension on it at idle and full throttle with no excess cable movement. You could drop the pan and go to full throttle to see how much movement is left on the TV valve also. The valve should also be bottomed out.

You adjust the TV cable at the carb

Buying the correct throttle cable bracket for this carb will greatly improve the adjustment also.

Got the carpet and most of the interior back together this afternoon. Seats are bolted back in place. Cut my carpet off where my steel floor is gonna be. Took boxes will be mounted where the back seat would be. Very back in gonna have my welder and accessories on a slide that will pull out about 18".

Dropping the pan and checking the throttle valve itself will prove (if need be) that the cable is adjusted properly at full throttle only. By the drawing it has to go thru the 78* swing arc for the trans to shift correctly.
Look at the picture he has and you will see, compared to what I show, is in the wrong starting point for the cable.

I did a lot of research into the tv cable. Thank you all for the information. As y'all suspected, it was put of adjustment. I used a valve cover tab to make a bracket to correct my angle and give me complete pull. Thanks again for the help!!

Guages are next on agenda for this afternoon. Wish me luck.

Got the guages mounted where I want them. Was a nightmare getting my speedometer cable into a useable position, but it's there. Gonna mount my tach on the outside of the guage hump, to the bottom left. Wiring them all up is gonna be a blast
