If they make a HHR pickup with FWD would you have any traction with a load? or do you think a RWD would be needed?

Because it DOES HAVE a "trunk"

Back in the early 80's, GM considered making a pick-up on the x car platform. Had about 10 of them running on test. Gave it up for some reason regarding load.

The X body cars were nothing to write home about

The X body FWD platform only went 6 model years (80 to 85) before it was killed off...that may have also played into it

Quick hi jack....

You know it's funny people say that. I had 3 (me, spouse and daughter). All were high mileage and low maintenance.....especially an Olds, 2.8 V-6, 4 speed. The key was that if you had a good one, they were good....unfortunately they were far between, as you infurred.

Sorry folks to break-up your dream but GM won't release a pick-up version of the HHR. I included a reply from my friend Bob Lutz about your request:
"We did a full-size model of this about two years ago. It would involve quite a bit of engineering investment, as well as a lot of unique metal stamped parts with an uncertain market. If we needed something of this type, we would likely bring in the small FWD Opel Corsa-based pick-up from Brazil"
as for the picture of a Corsa based pick-up i found this :

I like the green one but I dont like the pipe on the pick up bed. That stands out.

I find the comment about an uncertain market interesting. eg, the Colorado and the SSR.
