HHR ride

I have been riding in my HHR 08 since 08 and at first i liked it then it started to feel like its ride was getting stiffer. So i was curious do i have to run those high performance tires is it at all possible to put some largers tires with some meat on them. If this improves the ride i could consider keeping it. great gas mileage approx 34 mpg loven that.

Welcome to the site! What model do you have LS/LT or SS and what size rims are you running 16,17,18 ? what tire size do you have now? all these factor into the sidewall of the tire which helps with the ride the max height you can go is 26.2 inches, so a 215/55R16 has more side wall to absorb those bumps. use the search window to look up tire size chart

Took my 07 HHR in for a front end alignment, and was told both front struts were leaking, as well as both rear shocks. Replaced all of them, and the ride, though certainly not luxurious was definitely improved. Overall control also improved.

If you have the 17 in wheel you can go with a 225 50 17. Gives you about the most sidewall you can get with the 17 in rim.

I always found the HHR is be on the hard side when it comes to the ride. I pinpoint the ride being hard due to the 17 inch wheels not really allowing for a good sidewall size. However, I don't know if HHRs with 16 inch wheels have the same problem.

I've always thought the ride on my factory 16"s pretty good - certainly in comparison to the 225/40/18 summer tires I have on my other set of wheels - which have suffered numerous dings from potholes...
