Massachusetts to Knoxville area to Dragon 129 around the Smokies and back to Mass.

Blue Ridge if you can.
Especially in early mid June from Roanoke through Hillsville and beyond.
Miles & miles of Rhododendron should be blooming then.

Check my sig, I like road trips

Taken mine from STL to Denver, STL to Des Moines, STL to Chicago, STL to Indianapolis, STL to Pittsburg(looong trip), STL to Orlando...never really had any issues. I have also driven lots of weekend trips, with little to no issues.

I've made a few long road trips. On all but the last the HHR has been great. I drove from Calgary, Alberta to Zion National Park and the Grand Canyon. The second trip was from Calgary to Zion and the Grand Canyon again but we continued on to Carlsbad, New Mexico and returned through Moab.

The third longer trip was from Calgary to Vancouver. On this trip my brake rotors became very unhappy and developed a very serious shake when applied going down the big hills. It was kind of troubling but we made it alive. A few times I had to pull over to check the brakes because the shake was so bad.

Just drove to Birmingham Alabama and back to Detroit last week, with the panel loaded with tools and luggage. 12 hours straight thru, no problems, no fatigue.

BTW, if ever in the Birmingham area, check out the Barber motorsports museum and Sloss furnaces...

OK, Mowgli stole my idea. Swinging up through the Smokies and the Dragon on Hwy 129 and Gatlinburg. Beautiful country, ideal driving and not too terribly far off your direct path north.

It's a great destination.
Include it as part of a longer road trip and it will be a highlight.
Totally worth the detour.

Bring your camera

I bought my '06 2LT specifically for long trips.....vacations, etc.

Each year, I do a "Tour of America", accumulating 4000-9000 miles each time. I also travel short vacation distances of 300-1000 miles. I have no complaints about mileage, performance, comfort, radio stations or utility space.

I'm currently in Indiana and will be heading back home (actually Californicate first) in a couple of days. Hope to be home by August 8th.

I have about 3500 miles on this trip right now. probably another 3000 by the time I get home.

Do you have any specific questions?
