HHR runs on CNG

I'm wondering if there's any version of the HHR that runs on CNG (Copressed Natural Gas). This is an alternative fuel.

There are several compaines in the US that can install a CNG system on it. But the problem here was the infrastructure mostly. We did a few S10's and such several years ago. Then had to remove the systems when we sent them to auction, and they had never been used. It can be done, if the infrastructure is there, might not be a bad idea (compare cost savings verses system cost). But remember with the HHR, you will probably loose all the cargo area for the tank.

Sorry, but can't give you specifics on your location, but yes it can be done.

You can buy a home filling station for cng now.

I always wondered about propane for the HHR too.
Especially if you can set it up Dual Fuel!

Our's were dual systems. We just had no infrastructure in place. We were "supposed" to get it, but the federal mandate changed, and we had to also, no choice in that matter. Home filling is great if you stay local. But if you can't refuel on the economy, your stuck with gas again () . I've used them at other installations that had the ability, and they seemed to run fine.

No, couldn't answer that. The vehciles we did were mostly S10s and we also had a couple of factroy installed Contours. Since we were doing a conversion across the country at the time, I'm sure it was a good rate for the most part. But that was also 10 years or so ago.

As far as range, I know of some that stated the 300 mile or so numbers. But that also depends on the size of the tank. The only ones I drove were full size vans that were at Dobbins AFB at the time. The only differance was the starting of them, there was something you had to do, but can't remember what it was exactly. Nothing major from what I recall. Like I said, we never got ours up and running. We were supposed to get a refuleing tank, but that never happened. We also had to remove the systems on the ones convered before we sent them to auction.

I thought that CNG system can be insalled only at the manufacturing stage (when the car is being built in a factory), because of the tank that is useful to have under the board/flor [?]. With LPG (liquified propane gas) the LPG system can be assmbled later.
I agree that home fillig station for CNG is an inconvenience, and you have to add the electricity costs.

That is probably why on our conversions they mostly used trucks, the tanks went in the front part of bed. I know on the Contours, it was in the trunk and that basically gave you no trunk. I've seen vans that installed the tanks behind the most rearward seat.

I did a Google search on CNG conversions in Poland. Probably just best to contact someone local...
