HHR shifting issues

Have a hard time getting car into first gear. Any suggestions or reasoning for this thank you.

Tight shifter cables, or worn shifter bushings

I sprayed some WD-40 on the interlock solenoid on the shifter. There was an extended warranty on it, I am not sure about the status.
The sure way to fix it is to get a new shifter assembly; there are 2 versions the one with the leather boot is better, they are interchangeable.

Does the pedal seem to be very near the floor before the clutch disengages? Have you checked the brake fluid level?

Oh, I see in your other post you just did brakes. If there’s air in the clutch system, you might have trouble getting it into any gear when not moving.

If it’s really only 1sr gear, short-term workaround might be to put it in 2nd, then 1st.
