HHR SS speedo Cluster in a LT. Plug and play?

I got a good deal on a SS speedo cluster with about the same mileage as my 1LT. Is it a plug and play affair? don't want to throw any codes..

thanks!

Welcome to the site, the mileage is stored in the BCM not on the speedo head.
it shouldn’t set any codes unless the connections are different.
I personally wouldn’t install it, with my luck it would fry the harness or computer

Yes, Welcome.

Not seeing a need to put the SS speedo in a LT. Only difference between them is the top end speed. Your LT won't ever need that extra 20 mph on the dash.

The BCM needs to be programmed or it won't work.

Mileage is stored in the computer.

FYI I just ran into this with the wife's 2004 Saturn. The Mileage is stored in both the BCM and the cluster the one with the highest mileage will update the other, but, the VIN has to match in both to get the mileage to update on the cluster. The dealer can do a VIN relearn process but we all know what they will probably charge but I'm not gonna pay it just so I can legibly read the odometer.

The DMV cares.

The shop manual says "no programming needed" in one place and "the VIN needs to match" in another.

Probablt less hassle to dissasemble both and put the inner red face of the SS cluster into your LT? Or maybe swap the computer part in it?

Or just forget about the whole thing.

Spray paint it red

DMV doesn't care on a car over 10 years old in NC. I have a 94 Impala SS with 91K showing on the odometer and while they had the inspector recheck it He told me they don;t care on cars over 10 years, again this is NC not Virginia. Also, I have a Tech 2 and I got the replacement cluster to display the BMC mileage but I couldn't get around the VIN issue. FYI the relearn sets a counter back to zero. The counter has a certain amount of Key on counts that must be achieved before the cluster locks in the BCM VIN.

I'm just sharing what I've come across and learned, results may be different for others, in other word's, take it for what it's worth.
